Sport is integral to the wellbeing of students for cooperative teamwork, general fitness, good sporting attitude and respect for rules. Our athletes are encouraged towards an attitude of good sportmanship.

All students are expected to participate in College swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals. Our aim at Mary MacKillop Catholic College is to become renowned across the Darling Downs for producing competitive sporting teams and athletes.

Queensland Combined Independent Schools (QCIS)

The College is a foundation member of the Queensland Combined Independent Schools (QCIS) which commenced in 2016. Through this association, P to 12 students have an extensive and expanding range of sporting, cocurricular and extracurricular opportunities and competitions.

Most sport organised by the Queensland Combined Independent Schools (QCIS) is during College hours. Individual teachers and parents take responsibility for coaching a team in local competition for sports including soccer, rugby, rugby league, touch football, basketball, netball, volleyball and hockey.

Representative Sport

There are many opportunities for students to represent the College, the Darling Downs and Queensland in a variety of sports. Pathways exist in most sports to allow gifted students to progress through to Australian College representation. Trials or carnivals are run at the College for all sports which allow students the chance to make teams. The information about trials will be announced on the morning notices, eNews and the sports website.
